BETA Lebanon
BETA stands strong as a symbol of compassion in Lebanon, offering refuge to distressed animals on the edge of despair. My role there was practical and hands-on, involving tasks like cleaning enclosures and forming meaningful connections, all set against the backdrop of Lebanon's unique challenges.

My journey to took an unexpected turn following the sale of my company. With a newfound sense of freedom, I embarked on a six-month stay in Lebanon, a decision that exposed me to a reality vastly different from my Dutch origins. Lebanon's economic crisis loomed large, presenting a stark contrast to the familiar comforts of the Netherlands.

Amidst the everyday hustle of shelter life and the grit of Lebanon's streets, I came face to face with the raw realities of a nation grappling with economic uncertainty. The routine actions at the shelter gained deeper significance against this backdrop, highlighting the importance of perseverance and compassion in the face of adversity.

Leaving BETA and Lebanon behind after those transformative months was not merely a change of scenery, but a departure from a reality that had left an indelible mark on my perspective. The experience was an eye-opener, underscoring the need for empathy and kindness in a world marked by disparities.

Lebanon's challenges served as a microcosm of global issues, a reminder that the struggles faced by one nation often reverberate across borders. From my vantage point in the Netherlands, I gained a fresh understanding of the interconnectedness of our world, motivating me to channel the lessons learned into meaningful action and contribute to positive change. My worldview had evolved, grounded in a newfound awareness of the unseen difficulties that unite us all.
